The eighties pop star has teamed up with New York’s Bergdorf Goodman to create the range entitled ‘Belinda by Belinda Carlisle’. The up-scale designs have been made from textiles woven in India, where the ‘Heaven Is a Place on Earth’ singer has lived part-time for the last two years. She has made the project a philanthropic effort as well as a business by hiring women in Calcutta to sew the items as a part of the Shuktara Project, which provides care for orphans with disabilities.

Speaking about the range to WWD magazine she said, “At first it was a way for me to feel better about all the shopping I do while I’m in India, but it’s been a great challenge to put on a business thinking cap.” The collection includes tabletop items, bedding and other home pieces, including one of a kind bedspreads, prices will range from $15 to $2,000.

Marianne Brandi is the head of design and creative spirit behind the Day Birger Et Mikkelsen interior and lifestyle collection Day Home. This  new collection is inspired by the decay of the season, the way fabrics and material change over time. She says;

“I like that you can see that life puts its mark on it, showing the use from generation to generation, through decades.”

Marianne also believes that silver is something you treasure, a material that can be maintained be polishing or the slow decay can be enjoyed – simply by letting it breathe. The colours featured in the latest collection are inspired by nature: fields of wheat in the late summer months, grapes being picked in the wine yards, the colour of the soil shortly after a gentle afternoon rain, the early morning sky, and the colour of the Ocean when the sun goes down.
