One of Denmark’s best-know design brands, Stelton was created over fifty years ago when two friends Stellan and Carton merged their first names to start a trading company. The company quickly grew and has gone on to have a rich history of design and award winning products within the home accessory market, including the Cylinda-Line which was awarded the ID Prize in 1967 and the Stelton vacuum jug which was also awarded the Danish ID Prize in 1977, and has gone on to sell more than 10 million units since 1977.

Merel Boers has illustrated for clients like Elle Girl, Cosmo Girl, The Dutch Ministry of Culture & Science, and Port of Amsterdam. She has also won several awards for her designs including the Lancôme Colour Designs Award with her first illustrative fashion collection for the category ‘Modern Femininity’ in 2007.

Since its inception in 2003, Ekobo has been combining modern aesthetics with local craftsmanship to sustain rural communities in Vietnam, while promoting bamboo as a socially and environmentally responsible material ideal for modern use. The company trades directly with bamboo villages and workshops, and as a result artisans receive higher wages, communication and quality control are simplified, relationships and collaboration are strengthened, production planning is more efficient, and high-quality standards are maintained.

Which design is your favourite?

Inspired by ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ a song by the American rock band Nirvana this mug is perfect for fans of nineties grunge. The song is the opening track and lead single from the band’s second album, Nevermind (1991), written by Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl.

The coolest way to serve sugar with your hot drinks is this Punk sugar bowl. Inspired by ‘Should I Stay or Should I Go’, a song by the English punk rock band The Clash. It became the band’s only number-one single, a decade after it was originally released.

This jug features a cleverly placed safety pin that doesn’t get in the way of pouring. Inspired by ‘Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll’ a song and single by Ian Dury. It was originally released as the Stiff Records single BUY 17 with “Razzle In My Pocket” as the B-side, on 26 August 1977.

Inspired by the song “God Save the Queen” this mug is ideal for fans of the English punk rock band The Sex Pistols. The song was released during Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee in 1977.

This mug is inspired by ‘Teenage Kicks’ a song released in 1978, originally recorded by Northern Irish punk rock group The Undertones. Composed by the band’s principal songwriter, John O’Neill, it was championed by DJ John Peel, and was his all-time favourite song.

The designer draws on historic ceramic printing techniques in a familiar quintessential English scene with a playful and unexpected twist. Each piece within the range tells its own story, the observer wanders across the landscape to discover the story within. From a playful fox with a kite to an intelligent owl with a good book, each design is full of character and charm.
